Today will be week 8 of being meat free, dairy free, white sugar free and all processed foods free. It started with a thought and it has turned into a journey of renewal. My dearly devoted and I have talked for years about getting into better physical shape, I being the one of the two of us that needed to shed a lot of excess weight and he who did not. Truth be told Bud was thrilled when he went to the doctor and was told he no longer needed to be on his cholesterol medication. He has dropped nearly 20 lbs and he feels excellent. I am shedding the unwanted baggage at a slower rate but it is coming off and that is what counts. Today I showed that I have dropped 25 lbs, three jean sizes and gained a whole bunch of confidence.
The only thing I changed is I am eating whole foods. I have even started making my own bread! Yes, that is a big deal because I had never tried before now. At the moment I am on a fresh fruit and vegetable juice fast, that is supplemented with rice protein. I decided that I would use the fast as an opportunity to gain some spiritual perspective as I shed the unwanted baggage. I have learned just how much of a " live to eat" gal I really am, and I aim to change that with some healthy choices and a new repertoire of clean cooking recipes. Whether we will stay meat and dairy free for the long haul will depend on a few things but for the time being it is working for us.
For those who might be interested it was the programs "Fat, Sick, and nearly Dead" and "Forks Over Knives" that sparked the thought that turned into a journey. I will keep you updated as we progress through the ins and outs of the whole food lifestyle.
Cheers!
